Hi, I’m Carley, and I live in Franklin, North Carolina. I am a Junior at Western Carolina University (WCU), but this is my first year here. I graduated from high school with my AA degree, so my first two years of general classes are already done. As of right now my major is Spanish Education, but I don't want to be a teacher anymore; so I'm planning on changing my major, as soon as I figure out what I want to do. I’m also a hostess at restaurant in Franklin called the Boiler Room Steak House.
In my free time, I’m usually painting, cooking, watching movies, playing P-Uno (a crazy version of Uno), or playing djembes with my friends (really, it’s more like I listen to them play because I have no rhythm). Some of my favorite things in life are movies, music, and food (except spicy food – which will make India interesting). I am an excellent cook and I’ve also discovered over the last few years that I can paint pretty well too. I’m actually selling my paintings as a fundraiser for this trip. And as a random point: the most exciting thing I’ve done so far this year is get a tattoo. It’s on my foot, and it says: “Beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.”
I have been on five mission trips so far: Peru (Global Expeditions, and then Wycliffe), El Salvador (twice with AY Missions), and Burkina Faso (through the CM&A). And now I am really excited to spend a summer in India. The Lord has just really given me a burden and a passion for overseas missions. I want people to hear the gospel and experience the love of Jesus; and I want to be someone who brings that to them. I’m excited to be a part of that while I am in India this summer. I love that the Lord wants to use me in these children’s lives; and I am so ready to love them in a way that makes Jesus famous. ..The only thing I’m nervous about is the spicy food.
